The Carroll County 1000 Acre Lake is a man-made lake in Central Carroll County, South of Huntingdon, and is the largest of its kind in West Tennessee. The lake has just over 22 miles of shoreline! It contains a public boat ramp and dock, two beaches, a marina, and a cafe.
The lake is stocked with many varieties of fish, including bass, bluegill, crappie, catfish, and sunfish. There are two sections of the lake, in regards to boating; there is a section devoted primarily to water sports, and a no wake section reserved mainly for fishing.
It serves as a perfect spot to spend the day playing and relaxing on one of the two sandy beaches, swimming, fishing, or boating with friends! Along the Western shoreline, past the no wake zone, is a rope swing, for the daring among us!
Private properties and boat docks are scattered around the shoreline, with plenty of empty water-front lots still available for purchase. Living around the 1000 Acre Lake provides all of the advantages of owning water-front property in a rural setting, with the added convenience of being only five minutes outside of town!
Use of the lake does cost money to the general public. For Carroll County residents, the cost is $3 for anyone between ages 11-65, and $5 for non-Carroll County residents. Fishing licenses are available at the Headquarters, located just before the boat ramp.
The address to the Headquarters and Recreation area is 405 Boyd’s Landing Rd. Huntingdon, TN 38344, and the phone number to reach the office is (731) 986-5540.
